Here’s an excerpt from the short story I’ve just submitted to my writer’s group – ahead of my self-imposed schedule I might add!
Vakar scribed a huge circle through the air, Dannin swinging wide below, his gloved hands clinging grimly to the thin hemp. The strange wizard was waiting when Dannin spun out of the mist. He seized the rope. The abrupt halt in Dannin’s momentum slammed the wizard back a few steps. Dannin’s feet scrabbled for the deck. Snatching the dragonrider’s dagger from his belt two-handed, the wizard sawed jaggedly at the hemp.
